#GivingTuesday 2017 is on Tuesday, November 28, 2017!
#GivingTuesday is a global day of philanthropic movement that began in 2012. In that year, and every year since, the first Monday following Thanksgiving marks #GivingTuesday (following Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday).
#GivingTuesday harnesses the power of social media and unites it with the power of generous people who are looking for a way to give back to their communities with the donations of time, talent, and resources. At its core, #GivingTuesday is about the reciprocity that occurs in a community that provides mutual benefit and enrichment for all members.
Crossroads first participated in #GivingTuesday in December 2015. The school celebrates each year by collecting nonperishable food items and donating them to a local food pantry called “A Place to Turn.” The process is an important one because it engages all members of our community in the spirit of giving.
Additionally, Crossroads holds an online #GivingTuesday fundraiser. In 2016, thanks to the support of our staff, families, and community, we raised $60,000 to invest in SMART Boards for each of our classrooms!
How have SMART Boards made an impact in our classrooms? Check out our SMART Board Report.
